Recently my mother was attending a show. They called a woman in the audience to come on stage as it was her 95th birthday. She excitedly got up from her chair and with surprising agility climbed the steps. They then began to play her favorite song. With a lot of enthusiasm, she sashayed across the stage as she enjoyed her special moment. A few weeks later my mother was attending another show at this same venue. A woman in the audience got up and commented that it had been her friend, whom they had honored. The 95-year-old woman had told her after being on stage that that was the best day of her life. The next day she passed suddenly and was gone. I marveled at the way this woman’s life had concluded. To have one’s best day at ninety-five, just seemed so wonderful and precious to me. And to remain in good shape until the end and to then pass quickly and painlessly just felt so right.

Shortly after hearing this story, I was riding in an elevator with a much older gentleman, who was hunched over and had a cane. He looked like he was well into his 80′s and he appeared to be very feeble. I asked him how he was doing. He replied hesitantly, “O.K.” and asked me how I was doing. I said that I was fine.

He said emphatically, “At your age you should be fine!”

I smiled and said “you are right”. As I got out of the elevator I pondered this moment. I thought about the truth of what this man had said. For him every step is a challenge. His health is obviously precarious and at this point, he is unlikely to improve to any great extent. I have my health and while I am no longer in my 20′s, I am in good shape and still have a lot to look forward to. I often think that it is important to appreciate what you have while you still have it and not just after the fact. While most of us would agree that we would like to be dancing happily until the day before we pass, very few people are fortunate enough to have this experience. That is why it is good to be grateful for all of the many blessings we do have while we still have them.

I hope you will count your blessings each and every day and that you will be an inspiration to the rest of us by living a long, healthy and happy life.

Have you ever noticed that when you are focused on achieving a goal you have lots of energy, you feel alive, and you have a sense of meaning and purpose about your life? When I am clear about my path, opportunities open up, miracles occur and great joy is experienced.

It is in having a goal and working to achieve it that we are able to feel a sense of purpose in our lives. Sitting around with nothing to do does not bring joy and a sense of fulfillment. It usually brings sadness and a sense of loss. I am a great admirer of the work of Dr. Victor Frankl, M.D., Ph.D., (1905-1997), who was an Austrian Neurologist and psychiatrist, as well as a holocaust survivor. He was the founder of logotherapy, which is based on the belief that the most powerful motivating and driving force in people is their striving to find meaning in their life. In his classic book, Man’s Search for Meaning, Frankl discusses his experiences in a concentration camp and describes how he was able to find meaning and a reason for living even in the most difficult of life’s circumstances. He found that when a camp inmate had someone they wished to be reunited with or they had something they wished to accomplish after the war that they were much more likely to survive the camps. It was their sense of purpose that allowed them to find a way to go on living.

Interestingly, Dr. Frankl had developed his theory before the war. He felt that the time he spent in a concentration camp only confirmed and provided evidence for his theory. He also felt that “when we are no longer able to change a situation….we are challenged to change ourselves”. Ultimately, the power resides within us to determine how we will respond to our circumstances.

There is a lot of upheaval in our world at this time. Tropical storms and hurricanes, earthquakes, high unemployment, and many other difficulties certainly abound. However, I have personally never felt more optimistic about all of the many opportunities that exist today. It is all about where we put our attention, what our attitudes are and the goals we set for ourselves. I hope you will always find meaning in your life and that you will experience the great joy and fulfillment that comes with accomplishing your heart’s desire.

Love & Light,

Felicia Weiss

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing; the last of the human freedoms‚Äîto choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” – Dr. Viktor Frankl

Whether we’ve lost a job, a house or watched others lose theirs, it has been hard not to notice that many things have changed or are not what they were.

I recently saw the movie, “The Company Men”. This really brought home to me the difficulties that many people have experienced since 2008. It’s one thing to read that over 400,000 people lost their jobs this week. However, these numbers seem to lose their meaning after awhile or they seem like an improvement to the 500,000 or more who were losing their jobs previously. We do not really stop and think about what this means for these people- how their lives have changed and how what they have counted on has suddenly disappeared. Often they begin to experience a downward spiral where they may lose their home, their car, and many other things they held dear.

For some it is an opportunity to appreciate what they do have- their loved ones, their health, their ability to reinvent themselves in a new and exciting way. For others, it is an experience from which they are unable to recover. Some families are able to pull together, to support each other, and to help each other to feel loved and valuable. Other families are torn apart. Some are able to make the adjustment, while others are not.

Life is an ebb and flow. Often I think it is like a pendulum. We swing one way and then another. We are all on a journey that winds and turns and has its ups and downs. Often what seems like a tragedy is really an opportunity disguised as a loss. Vince Lombardi, one of the most successful coaches in football history said, “It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get back up”. He also stated, “The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall”. He lived his beliefs and was the driving force of the Green Bay Packers from 1959-1967. With his leadership, they won five National Football League championships.

It is this type of drive and determination that helps us to achieve our goals. It is also in understanding that people have value beyond what they do or where they live that makes all of the difference. Several years ago my father told me that he thought it was important for people to live up to their potential. I agree. I hope you will be all that you are capable of being and that no matter how many times you are knocked down that you will always get back up.

Sometimes in life we are given opportunities to overcome tremendous obstacles. I often think that when we are thrown a curve ball that our best move is to hit a home run. It is at these times that we are able to truly show what kind of people we are. Do we give up and quit or do we find a creative solution to our difficulties? Some of my favorite memories of my father are how he always managed to find the most amazing solutions to life’s challenges. He never asked why something was happening, but always moved directly into his problem-solving mode. His creative solutions never ceased to amaze me.

I recently saw the movie Unstoppable, which was based on a true story of how three men were instrumental in stopping a runaway train, containing hazardous chemicals. This exciting film demonstrated the power of the human spirit to overcome incredible difficulties in a positive, heroic way. I left the theatre feeling so inspired by this movie, which would have seemed to be farfetched if it was not based on true events. This is my favorite type of film- the ones which would not be believable if they were not inspired by reality.

Tony and I recently had the experience of having to overcome the ice and snow to hold the Wellness Expo in Grapevine. We were impressed by the dedication and tenacity of our exhibitors, who were able to get themselves to this event. We were also grateful to the wonderful attendees, who came to the show. It really helped with the cabin fever many people experienced during this time, returned our lives to normalcy and got people moving forward in a positive way. After the event, Tony told me how he felt that he had really grown as a person. I felt the same way. Often it is in overcoming our obstacles that we are able to stretch ourselves and grow. How much have you learned from the things that have come easily to you?

We hope you will join us for the April 16-17, 2011 Wellness Expo in Addison and the June 25-26, 2011 Wellness Expo in Grapevine. Here you will find inspiration, solutions to life’s challenges, and an opportunity to grow. We are honored and gratified to be able to produce this event with such a fine group of professionals, dedicated to doing their best work in all kinds of circumstances. We are not expecting any more ice and snow-just a fabulous event with incredible people. We hope you will be one of them.

The past few years we have been experiencing a global recession. Although this has been a big adjustment for many people, I have been amazed at all of the many opportunities this has presented. Housing has become more affordable with mortgage rates lower than they have been in decades, technology has gotten better and cheaper, people have become more grateful for what they do have, and businesses offering valuable products and excellent service are continuing to thrive.

Although so much has seemed out of our control, there are many things that we do have control over. I have found it invaluable to listen to Rodney Anderson’s radio show on Saturdays from 8:00 to 9:00am on 105.3 The FAN and from 11:00am to noon on News Radio 1080 KRLD. Rodney is a Nationally acclaimed Expert, Author, and Consumer Advocate for overall financial wellness, who resides in the Dallas metroplex. He recently authored the book, “Credit 911: Secrets and Strategies to Saving Your Financial Life”, which is an amazing resource for many of the things we are not taught in school, such as improving and maintaining an excellent credit score. I have learned so much from Rodney over the years and have applied this knowledge in many useful ways.

Since the recession began, Tony and I have been able to refinance our home at just 4.5%, lower our homeowners insurance premium while maintaining the same coverage by going with a different insurance company, lower the rate from our electric company (just by asking), and purchase a hybrid at an excellent price with 0% interest. In addition, we have upgraded our computer systems for much less money than we previously spent with more power and features than we had before. All in all, we have found an abundance of opportunities that have improved our lives dramatically, helped us lower our expenses, and given us a lot to be grateful for.

I believe that years from now we will look back and be astonished at the low interest rates and incentives that are being offered right now and many will wish they had had the foresight to take advantage of them. I hope you will look for and find the many opportunities and blessings in your life, even in these times that many find so trying. I encourage you to find solutions to life’s challenges and to be part of the recovery.

For the past few years, I have been thinking that I would like to lose 10 pounds. Recently I learned about Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG). Dr. A.T.W. Simeons wrote a manuscript entitled, “Pounds and Inches” where he discussed how combining HCG with a 500-calorie diet helped a person to access the fat stores in their body and to utilize those fat stores in order to lose weight. He studied this extensively in Italy in the 1940′s and 1950′s, where he was able to help thousands of patients to lose weight with HCG injections in his clinic. What was impressive about his work was that people were able to lose weight in all the right places, while not feeling extreme hunger. Although a 500-calorie diet without HCG would require an enormous amount of will power to achieve and would not be a healthy way to lose weight, he found that adding HCG changed all this.

Fortunately, I learned that HCG is now available in homeopathic form, making it very inexpensive and allowing people to easily administer themselves. Having been a firm believer in homeopathy for many years, I was curious to see how this worked. I have to admit, however, that the 500 calories/day made me hesitant to begin this plan. My husband Tony, however, did not have these reservations and he decided to give it a try. He found that the HCG drops took away most of his hunger and that 500 calories left him feeling satisfied. He has now completed 3 rounds of the diet and has lost over 35 pounds. Finally, on his last round, he convinced me to give it a try. It was not as difficult as it sounded. I especially enjoyed the first two “loading” days, where you are told to eat lots of fatty and sugary foods in order to expand your fat cells and make it easier for your body to access them. I kept reminding myself that I can do anything for a few weeks. After 26 days, I had happily lost over 11 pounds.

I marvelled at how many of us go through years of wanting to lose weight, but not taking the positive steps necessary to achieve our goal. Weighing what I weighed in my early twenties has been a wonderful accomplishment for me and it all occurred very quickly.

I hope those of you wanting to lose weight will not wait another day to look and feel the way you would like. It is definitely worth it.

PS — You can buy HCG homeopathic drops at ShiftingFrequencies.com

The Remarkable Work of Dr. A.T.W. Simeons

Abstract
Dr. Simeons has contributed a breakthrough in the field of obesity and weight management. Thanks to his discovery of the role of HCG in weight management, we now have a scientific approach to weight loss that works comfortably and consistently for people. He was truly a pioneer, whose work is incredibly beneficial and helpful in solving the obesity problem that has grown to epic proportions in the United States.

Pounds and Inches
The late Dr. A.T.W. Simeons was a British Endocrinologist, who spent decades studying the nature and treatment of obesity. In the late 1930′s after looking at thousands of cases and developing a treatment that showed good results, Dr. Simeons began publishing his findings in scientific journals. However, he received so many inquiries from research institutes, doctors, and patients that in 1954 he published a manuscript called “Pounds and Inches” to explain his findings to both laypersons and professionals.

Three Types of Fat
First, he discussed the nature of obesity, a disorder whose disposition he believed can be inherited. Then he distinguished among three types of fat: 1. structural- which provides the important and necessary function of filling the gaps between various organs; 2. normal reserve of fuel- which is utilized for muscular activity and the maintenance of body temperature; and 3. abnormal reserve of fuel- which is locked away and unavailable to the body in a nutritional emergency.

While the first two types of fat are necessary for our survival, it is the latter type that can lead to obesity and that is difficult to lose during normal dieting. After studying various glands and brain function, Dr. Simeons concluded that it is the hypothalamus (the part of the brain from which the central nervous system controls all the autonomic functions of the body, such as breathing, heart beat, digestion, etc.), which manages the deposits and withdrawals of fat. When a person consumes more fat than their body requires, the hypothalamus locks it away and takes it out of normal circulation.

Three Paths to Becoming Overweight
This discovery led Dr. Simeons to conclude that there are three basic ways for a person to become overweight or even obese. First of all, they might have inherited an abnormally low fat-banking capacity. Secondly, their prior normal fat-banking capacity may have been lowered due to some other disorder of their hypothalamus, such as might occur in menopause or some types of diabetes. Finally, obesity can occur when a normal fat-center is suddenly required to handle more food than is needed for momentary requirements (such as when a person overeats, exercises less, etc.). Dr. Simeons noted that in the first two situations, obesity may occur regardless of whether or not a person overeats. He reasoned that in order to treat obesity, he had to correct any hypothalamic deficiencies.

HCG: The Key to Weight Loss
Dr. Simeons understood that pregnant women have enormous quantities of Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG) circulating in their body, which allows them to experience almost unlimited hypothalamic banking capacity so that fat deposits are not formed. After she gives birth and the HCG is gone, then a formerly pregnant women’s hypothalamus reverts to its normal capacity so that abnormally accumulated fat is locked away and banked and obesity may once again occur.

Dr. Simeons discovered that by injecting a person with HCG and restricting them to a very low calorie diet (since they don’t have a baby growing inside of them) that they could access their fat stores and lose weight. He found that HCG seems to continually saturate the blood, allowing people to not feel hungry, although their food intake has been drastically reduced. Since HCG is not a sex hormone, it operates the same way in men, women and children.

Dr. Simeons’ HCG Clinic in Italy
Dr. Simeons successfully applied his new approach to weight loss to thousands of patients in his clinic in Italy. He recommended that patients take the HCG for 23-40 days. He had the HCG administered to them by injection. After the injections were stopped, he had his patients continue with their low-calorie diet for three more days to be sure that all of the HCG was eliminated from their body. He found that his patients were no more hungry during these three days than they were while taking the HCG.

HCG and “Loading Days”
For the first two days with the HCG, Dr. Simeons had his patients eat large quantities of fatty and sugary foods. He felt these “loading” days were important in order to swell the fat stores in their body so that when the low-calorie diet was begun that these fat stores would be more easily accessed. With reasonably well stocked fat reserves, Dr. Simeons’ patients were able to comfortably be on a 500 calorie/day diet. Although his patients would often gain a few pounds on their two loading days, they generally lost all of this weight in the first 48 hours of the low-calorie diet. Then they tended to lose 1/2 to 1 pound/day of fatty tissue for the duration. Since they were losing their fat stores and not their structural fat or normal fat reserves, they found that their weight loss occurred in the areas where they needed to lose it the most.

The Maintenance Phase of the HCG Diet
Following their program, Dr. Simeons’ patients entered a maintenance phase for the next three weeks, where they could eat whatever they chose, with the exception of sugars and starches. He encouraged them to weigh themselves daily and to make appropriate modifications if they gained more than two pounds. After this maintenance phase, they were able to slowly add other foods, while always continuing with their daily weighing. Overall, he found that 60-70% of his patients experienced little or no trouble in permanently maintaining their weight loss. He noted that many of his patients who regained weight did so as a result of not continuing to weigh themselves daily and to make adjustments as needed. Dr. Simeons found that patients who had more weight to lose or who had regained some of their weight were able to do additional rounds of the HCG program quite successfully and comfortably.

Two Types of HCG
Although Dr. Simeons focused solely on HCG injections, today HCG is also available in homeopathic form. The advantage to this is that the HCG homeopathic drops are more easily administered (the drops are just held under the tongue for about 30 seconds and then swallowed) and they are very inexpensive. Many have found them to be equally effective to the HCG injections. I have found them to work quite well and have known many people, who have used them successfully to achieve their weight loss goals. It is important to make sure that the homeopathic HCG drops are manufactured by a reputable manufacturer, who manufactures them according to the strictest standards in a federally- and state-registered pharmaceutical laboratory, which has regular inspections by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in order to ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
